Spezia Calcio announces that, following the issuance of the new Infrastructural Criteria for the 2022-2023 Serie A championship, which have raised the minimum capacity of facilities to 12,000 seats, except for exceptions, granted by the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A for stadiums covered by the provisions contained in Law no. 210 of October 17, 2005, converting Decree Law No. 162 of August 17, 2005, the renovation work on the "Alberto Picco" stadium entrusted to architect Gino Zavanella's GAU Arena company, is proceeding according to the new directives, which will make it possible to create a unique, sustainable, modern, safe and suitable facility for the needs of the city.
The initial three-year project, which saw in the first phase the renovation of the "Curva Piscina," is proceeding with great attention, intending to guarantee the Club and the city a facility up to the standard of the stage on which in the last two seasons the Eagles have made thousands of fans dream, who deserve to live on the stands the best possible experience.
The Club would also like to highlight the importance of the great participation of the Eagles’ fans in the survey proposed by Spezia Calcio regarding some issues related to the renovation of the Viale Fieschi facility and the enthusiasm shown during the analysis focus groups attended by supporters and partners, occasions that have allowed the collection of fundamental data for the renovation work, which, once completed, will be able to make the city stadium a source of pride not only for the Club but for the entire La Spezia territory.
Finally, it is right and proper for Spezia Calcio to thank the Mayor, who has been and continues to be an important interlocutor for the Club, the local authorities, and the competent bodies, with whom an effective synergy has been developed from the very first project phases, without which it would have been impossible to even think of starting the necessary renovation of the "Alberto Picco" stadium, a historic facility that deserves to project itself into the future as a protagonist.
